SPYERA’s data delivery settings control how often the app uploads captured data from the target device to your web account. Because SPYERA runs on a timer system rather than uploading instantly, adjusting these settings lets you balance reporting speed against battery and data usage.
How SPYERA’s delivery timers work
SPYERA uses three timers:
- Event capture timer — how often data is uploaded by time.
- Number of events timer — how often data is uploaded based on the number of captured events.
- GPS capture timer — how often GPS location data is uploaded by time.
By default, the event timer is set to every hour, the number of events is set to 10, and the GPS timer is set to every 30 minutes. This means data is not uploaded instantly: the app waits until at least one hour has passed or ten events have been captured, whichever comes first. With the default GPS timer, you receive roughly two location updates per hour.
Where to change data delivery settings
- Open your web account and go to HELP > Device Settings > Data Delivery.
- Click Change Application Settings to open the capture log and report timer settings.
Capture Events
At the top level, Capture Events can be enabled or disabled for all event types beneath it — an easy way to temporarily pause all log capturing. Capture Events must be enabled (with a checkmark) before any individual log type can be captured. With it enabled, use the right-hand column to turn on IM capturing, then check each messaging app you want SPYERA to log.
Report Timer
The Event Count and Delivery Timer work together — SPYERA uploads whenever either limit is reached first:
- Event Count — the number-of-events interval.
- Delivery Timer — the time interval.
For example, with Event Count = 10 and Delivery Timer = 1 hour, SPYERA connects and reports new logs every hour or every 10 new events, whichever comes first:
- Example 1: the target makes 5 calls, 3 SMS, 1 location update, and visits 1 website (10 events in total) — SPYERA uploads immediately, without waiting the full hour.
- Example 2: the target makes only a call and a couple of SMS — fewer than 10 events, so SPYERA falls back to the time interval and waits up to 1 hour before uploading.
Real-time monitoring
Real-time monitoring is not recommended, as frequent uploads cause rapid battery drain and higher data use on active target devices.
If you still want every event delivered as soon as it is captured, set:
- Event Count: 1 event
- Delivery Timer: 1 hour
With these values, SPYERA uploads every single event as it happens.
Recommended settings
For the best balance of timely data and battery life, use:
- Event Count: 50 events
- Delivery Timer: 3 hours
SPYERA will connect every 3 hours to upload all captured logs, or sooner once 50 events are reached — whichever comes first. This is the best option for protecting battery life.
Delivery method
The Delivery Method can be set to Any Available or Wi-Fi only. “Any Available” uses 3G/4G cellular data, while “Wi-Fi” stores all captured events until the phone connects to the internet over Wi-Fi.
You can change these settings at any time from your dashboard. Click Sync Now to save your changes to the target device.
